My name is Barbara Graver. I write paranormal romance, contemporary romance, romantasy and memoir. All of my writing features neurodivergent characters and themes. I was diagnosed with autism in 2022 and ADHD in 2025.
My Story
I grew up on Dark Shadows, Gothic fiction, and my mother’s paperbacks—and have been writing PNR, romantasy and contemporary romance ever since.
Manuscripts and short stories piled up over the years but never I felt my work was good enough to publish. Workshops and critiques groups and how-to-write books didn’t help. Finally a diagnosis of autism and ADHD, helped me see my writing and my life in a very different way.
I’m currently serializing my vampire romance, second chance romance and AuDHD memoir here on Substack. All of my fiction includes at least one neurodivergent MC.

🌈The Spirit Dream (Memoir)
📖The Spirit Dream | I was always different. Sensitive. Passionate. Clueless. So I put everything I had into being like everyone else. Then, at the lowest point in my life, a vivid and mysterious dream gave me a renewed sense of hope. I blogged my way through one spiritual tradition after the other, but the answers I was looking for remained out of reach. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD that I understood the guidance I’d been given and finally learned to honor the person I was meant to be. The Spirit Dream is a neurodivergent memoir about spiritual guidance, the high cost of masking, and the long road to becoming the person I was meant to be.
⚠️ Trigger Warning Possible triggers include substance abuse, co-dependency, self-harm, sexual assault (off page), infidelity and PTSD.
