Autism and Psychic Experience

Autistic POV EP 10
4

My Thoughts

I always thought of my interest all things metaphysical as something that was only tangentially related to my autism diagnosis. Then, just recently, my perspective changed.

I touch on that in the podcast but don’t really do a great job of explaining it. The part about psychic ability and parapsychology is better. I am going to be doing more episodes on these topics—because for me, it’s a big topic.

Please note: The idea that autistic people (especially nonverbal autistics) are unusually telepathic is very controversial. To the best of my knowledge, it is yet to be adequately researched and, to be honest, I'm not sure it will ever be. I say more about why I think that in the podcast.

To me, the premise that individuals with autism may be unusually sensitive to psychic energies, just like they're unusually sensitive to tons of other things, is worth exploring.

Additionally, and not incidentally, the lived experience of autistic individuals should be factored in and I think the Telepathy Tapes does that.

Please have a listen and let me know what you think!

About This Episode

Is there a relationship between autism and psychic experience?

A connection between autism and telepathy has been reported by the families of some nonverbal autistic people. As a late diagnosed autistic this interests me because intuition has been a guiding force in my life.

Like all many areas of parapsychology, more research is needed, but I think it’s a topic worth exploring.

In this episode I talk about my own personal experience, what other people have to say about telepathic ability, the idea of psychic ability as a spectrum trait and a bit about parapsychology (drawn from what I have learned in my classes at the Rhine Institute).

This is my first time talking about this topic, I’m going to return to it in the next couple of podcasts!
