And a bit about the next Autistic POV Reading Roundup
My neurodivergent book list
I’ve been wanting to read more neurodivergent fiction. So yesterday I went to our local library with a list of four books—and found THREE of them.
For a small town library, I thought that was pretty good!
These are the books I got:
Act Your Age Eve Brown - a contemporary romance with an autistic main character
The Maid - a murder mystery with an autistic-coded main character
Eleanor Olyphant Is Completely Fine - general fiction with a main character identified as PTSD by the author (after publishing) but considered autistic-coded by some readers
When I got home, I found the fourth book, An Unkindness of Ghosts (sci-fi / autistic-coded MC), on Kindle Unlimited.
I was really happy with my library score (pictured above). Books are my number one special interests and I do tend to overspend. Going to the library saves a lot of money.
The library is also one of the few out-of-the-house inside activities I actually enjoy!
Talking about neurodivergent books on my podcast
I have heard good things about each of the books in my list and will be talking about at least one of them on my podcast (Autistic POV).
The next episode of the podcast will be a “Reading Roundup” which will include a few different neurodivergent novels.
This will be the second reading roundup since starting the podcast in 2024.
About future reading roundup episodes:
Episodes will focus on neurodivergent fiction (or memoir) related to autism, ADHD and PTSD (mainly because that’s what I know).
Instead of doing general book reviews, I’ll be looking at things like representation, literary elements and approaches, and overall book structure.
I think this approach will be helpful for me as a AuDHD writer. Hopefully it will be of interest to others as well.
